Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Work Assistant for the Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology at the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Work Assistant assists with several research studies relating to Diabetes and Metabolism. The successful candidate must be highly motivated, detail-oriented, and self-directed, with strong interpersonal skills. Below are the key duties of this position:

Maintains accurate, organized, and up-to-date records of procedures and analyses using both paper and electronic platforms.

Assists with ongoing research projects, including but not limited to mouse studies, Western blotting, and immunohistochemistry.

Assists with and performs bioinformatics analyses of high-throughput sequencing data.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Salary Information:

Minimum $15.92/hr; Mid Range $75.00/hr; Maximum $150.00/hr.

The final salary offer may be determined by several factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and expertise, and availability of department or grant funds to support the position. Consideration of market benchmarks, internal equity, and university compensation structure will ensure fair compensation.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience:

Undergraduate student studying a relevant science with at least one (1) year of related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Proficiency with internet applications and in using various Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.

Statistics training and experience.

Willingness to learn and perform bioinformatics analyses of high-throughput sequencing data.

Excellent interpersonal, writing, and verbal communication skills.

Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and communicate effectively with both internal and external team members.

Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to multitask and work well under pressure.

Ability to work and make decisions independently.

Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of statistical software (e.g. SPSS, PRISM, R); familiarity with command line operating systems (e.g. UNIX); experience with REDCap database software.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Reading, standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. Lifting up to 25 lbs. BSL2+ laboratory environment; exposure to study subjects in a clinical environment and exposure to research animal models.

Work Environment: Office environment with moderate noise.
