The Department of Emergency Medicine seeks a Public Health Representative III to administer and implement public‑health programs focused on HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C. Responsibilities

Assist supervisory staff in administering public‑health programs, identifying community health needs and supporting intervention development.
Conduct office and field work to promote HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C screening and linkage to care.
Coordinate with municipal, county, and local health authorities, healthcare providers, and community organizations for patient and program coordination.
Perform public‑health surveys, screenings, and testing activities, collecting specimens, gathering data, and conducting follow‑up; compile and maintain data for program evaluation and reporting.
Assist in preparing case histories, reports, and data supporting diagnostic or vital‑statistics reporting, ensuring completeness and accuracy.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and one (1) year of community‑based social‑service experience, or equivalent experience, education, and/or training may be substituted.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to work comfortably with patients and medical staff; excellent listening, communication, and organization skills; passion for health equity issues.
Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred; direct patient experience preferred; familiarity with local community and social‑service resources preferred; phlebotomy certification preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

Walk within hospital areas and navigate a high volume of patients; travel between sites as needed; never lift or carry over 50 pounds.
Flexible work hours to accommodate patient needs; on‑site during assigned hours, including evenings and weekends.
