Job Summary
The UAF Environmental Support Services unit provides developmental planning and environmental services to Fort Wainwright under the Intergovernmental Support Agreement (IGSA). This full‑time Tank Inspector is the subject matter expert, performing tank inspections, ensuring permits and compliance, planning tasks, and supporting field work.

Responsibilities
• Conduct tank inspection operations and ensure all activities and sources are permitted and compliant with regulations.

• Respond to spills or other non‑emergency environmental issues and mitigate damage.

• Maintain accurate records and documentation.

• Assist in the development of plans and tasks to support mission requirements while complying with federal, state, and local laws.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Science with relevant work experience.

Ability to access military installations in Alaska.

Valid driver’s license.

Willingness to work outdoors year‑round in Alaska weather.

Completion of A/B UST Operator Training.

Strong written and verbal communication, problem‑solving, attention to detail, physical fitness, teamwork, and time management.

Position Details
• Location: Fort Wainwright, Fairbanks, Alaska.

• Full‑time, term‑funded, exempt staff position.

• Grade 79 on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, with comprehensive compensation and benefits (retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays, tuition waivers, medical/dental/vision coverage).
