
Speech Language Pathologist - SLP - Outpatient

Job Summary: Responsible for speech therapy services including evaluation and treatment of speech and language disorders, swallowing disorders, and video fluoroscopy swallowing studies. Serves as a resource for staff in dealing with participants with communication, speech, and swallowing difficulties.
Responsibilities
Assess participants' swallowing, speech and language, and feeding dysfunction and restorative potential.
Perform evaluations and assessments within 48 hours of receiving MD order.
Perform written or electronic evaluations.
Determine patient and family needs related to cognition swallowing, and speech and language function.
Discuss with patient and family to identify patient goals and expectations.
Develop a comprehensive care plan for each patient.
Plan and perform therapeutic interventions to restore function and enhance quality of life to the greatest extent possible.
Plan individual therapy interventions.
Establish priority areas of treatment.
Provide speech therapy services to restore impaired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
May include treatment program to improve cognition, swallowing function and correct disorders, improve communication and speech ability, and correct disorders.
Establish suitable and achievable treatment goals, which contain time frames.
Provide individual therapy for patients as needed or prescribed in the care plan.
Perform the appropriate clinical tests and measurements to improve function whenever possible.
Prepare the patient for treatment by explaining the treatment process and positioning for comfort, safety, and optimal response.
Perform appropriate documentation in all areas of care.
Ensure completeness of documentation of all clinical services rendered to patients.
Satisfactorily complete and maintain all discipline specific competencies.
Maintain statistical records as required.
Determine equipment and supply needs and utilize budget resources to obtain.
Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.
Position Details
Hours:
Will be discussed in the interview. (4X 10 hour days 7:00am-5:30pm with Wednesday off.)
Travel:
Will need to commute to Jersey Shore Hospital when needed.
Required Experience:
Must hold a PA license in Speech Language Pathology.
Education requirement:
Must hold a master's degree in Speech Language Pathology. Must be certified through ASHA (American Speech- Language- Hearing Association).
