Overview
Eligibility Technician 2 —Public Assistance Eligibility Team. This position supports Alaskan families statewide to reach higher levels of independence and self-sufficiency by determining eligibility for state and federal assistance programs and initiating benefits for eligible applicants.
The work location is 855 W. Commercial Drive, Wasilla, Alaska 99654. This position is open to Alaskan residents only.
What you will be doing
Determine eligibility for a range of state and federal assistance programs such as Medicaid, SNAP, Heating Assistance, Cash Assistance, and more.
Interview applicants, review financial and personal information, and apply program rules to determine eligibility.
Make accurate and timely eligibility decisions in line with policies and regulations.
For applicants who are eligible, initiate authorization of benefits for services and other supports.
Work across multiple computer interfaces in this position.

Requirements and Qualifications
One year of entry level experience as an Eligibility Technician 1 with the State of Alaska, or one year performing similar work that develops knowledge and skills in applying program requirements and working with client customers in stressful situations.
Substitution: Post-secondary education in fields such as sociology, social work, psychology, counseling, human services, vocational rehabilitation, developmental disabilities, behavioral sciences, business, public administration, or accounting may substitute for the required experience (undergraduate credits: 2.67 semester/4 quarter hours = 1 month).
At the time of the interview, provide: three professional references (one of which must be your current or most recent supervisor), current performance evaluation if available, and copies of academic transcripts (unofficial acceptable; institution name/URL listed).
Education verification and transcripts are required to verify that minimum qualifications are met; transcripts may be attached at application or provided at interview. If not, they will be required before employment.
Special instructions for foreign education: provide evidence that foreign credentials have been evaluated as equivalent to U.S. education when applicable.
Work experience must be documented in the application. A resume will not be used to determine minimum qualifications.

This position is currently undergoing a job class study (Public Assistance Field Services). The title and pay range may change upon completion of the study. This recruitment may be used for multiple vacancies and the applicant pool may be used for up to 90 days after close.
