
Assistant Management Accountant - Chennai India

Northland Controls is looking for an Assistant Management Accountant in Chennai, India.
The Assistant Management Accountant supports the Finance team in delivering accurate and timely financial reporting across multiple regions. This role plays a key part in maintaining financial integrity through reconciliations, journal entries, and compliance activities, while partnering with global stakeholders across EMEA, AMER, APAC, and India.
The position works closely with the Management Accountant and Financial Controller, contributing to month‑end processes, VAT compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Post and manage bank entries for UK, Ireland, and Germany
Perform bank reconciliations across global entities (EMEA, AMER, APAC, India Pvt)
Complete intercompany reconciliations across all regions
Update General Ledger (GL) entries related to Purchase Orders
Maintain and update foreign exchange (forex) rates on a monthly basis
Manage VAT compliance and reconciliations for UK, Ireland, Germany, and Norway
Coordinate with external tax consultants on EU VAT queries
Perform GRNI (Goods Received Not Invoiced) reconciliations
Support month‑end close activities, including:
Journal entries
Accruals and deferrals
Reconciliations and financial checks
Assist with preparation and submission of periodic VAT returns
Support global finance projects and initiatives alongside the Management Accountant and Financial Controller
Undertake ad‑hoc tasks and projects as required
Qualifications & Experience
ACCA / ACA / CIMA finalist with a Bachelor's degree
Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience in a professional environment, ideally within a multinational organization
Strong understanding of reconciliations, journal entries, and month‑end processes
Experience with SAP Business One and NetSuite
Familiarity with VAT compliance and reporting (preferably EU/UK)
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Experience working with ERP systems
