Child Support Case Coordinator – Department of Community Resources
Hiring Range:

$20.00 - $26.13 per hour. This is a non-exempt (hourly) position.

Position Summary
Responsible for providing professional-level case management or case coordination services for child support services purposes. This is an entry‑level position and will manage child support cases in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and procedures.

Essential Functions

Initiate, prepare, organize, and enforce child support orders in accordance with program requirements

Monitor court‑ordered payments to determine what action to take when the absent parent is in or out of compliance with court order

Mediate out of court, schedule for court, and monitor cases for compliance

Establish voluntary and judicial paternity and support

Establish, modify and enforce child support orders, prepare cases for legal action and support orders by analyzing, monitoring, and reconciling accounts

Prepare cases for legal action, including providing direct support to agency attorney in court; testifies in court and documents court disposition into the automated system

Provide financial management of support orders by analyzing, monitoring and reconciling accounts

May be required to staff shelters in the event of a disaster

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum two years of experience in case management, eligibility, investigative, financial services, judiciary, or legal work that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the work.

Education
Associates degree in Business Administration, Human Services, Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, or another relevant field.

Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted: Yes

Licenses and Certifications

May require a valid North Carolina or South Caroline Driver's License

May need to obtain and maintain a valid Mecklenburg County Vehicle Operator’s Permit

Preferred Qualifications

Child Support Services experience

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Services, Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, or another relevant field is preferred

Knowledge

The Child Support Services Program and applicable legal procedures

Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations

Legal documents; civil/family court legal procedures

Case management principles

Multiple social service programs (consolidated human services environment)

Mediation techniques

Interviewing techniques

Customer service principles

Mathematical principles

Skills

Providing competent and professional customer service

Using a computer and related software applications

Performing mathematical calculations

Reading and interpreting legal documents

Applying applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations

Preparing reports

Managing complex caseloads in multiple programs concurrently

Conducting interviews and research

Relating and comparing data from different sources; organizing, analyzing, and summarizing information relevant to assigned cases
