Why This Role Exists
This role exists to support continuous production by maintaining and repairing CNC machines and facility equipment. At Barnes Aerospace, this position plays a critical role in minimizing downtime, improving machine performance, and ensuring manufacturing operations run safely and efficiently.
The Work You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
Perform mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs on CNC machines and facility equipment
Troubleshoot machine tool issues and identify root causes of failures
Maintain and repair multi-axis CNC machines, including up to 5-axis equipment
Perform preventative maintenance (PM) tasks and support scheduling of maintenance activities
Read and interpret machine manuals, diagrams, and technical documentation
Work closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to keep equipment running reliably
Perform machine leveling, alignment, and accuracy checks
Replace and repair machine components such as linear guides, ball screws, and other mechanical systems
Support continuous improvement of maintenance procedures and PM schedules
Coordinate with external vendors and service providers as needed
Respond to urgent machine‑down situations with a strong sense of urgency
Support general facility maintenance as required

Machines:
Multi-axis CNC mills, lathes, and other production equipment (up to 5-axis)
Controls:
Fanuc and other OEM machine controllers
Systems:
Hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems
Tools:
Hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment
Materials You’ll Work With
CNC machine components and assemblies
Mechanical and electrical systems within manufacturing equipment
What We’re Looking For
Required
3+ years of maintenance or machine repair experience in a manufacturing environment
Basic knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems
Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, and technical documentation
Experience working with CNC machines and production equipment
Strong communication skills and ability to work across teams
Basic computer skills
Preferred (Not Required)
Experience maintaining multi‑axis CNC machines (3, 4, or 5‑axis)
Familiarity with OEM machine controls (Fanuc or similar)
Experience with preventative maintenance systems and scheduling
Experience with CNC probing systems
