
UI Professional II

Introduction
The Maryland Department of Labor, Division of Unemployment Insurance is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of UI Professional II. This recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies. The eligible list will be maintained for one year after the closing date of the announcement.

Main Purpose of Job
Provide high-quality customer service, explain and interpret UI rules, assist employers with filing obligations, contact employers, collect UI debt. The position does not supervise or lead other employees.
Position Duties
Make outbound calls to employers to collect UI debt.
Negotiate payment arrangements to collect UI debt.
Gather tax and wage information from employers to establish liability under Maryland Unemployment Insurance law.
Assist with review and processing of correspondence that comes from the USPS.
Explain state Unemployment Insurance laws, rules and regulations to employers and their representatives.
Assist with incoming telephone calls and provide accurate information to employers.
Minimum Qualifications
Four years and six months to five years of experience in a public or private agency rendering or determining eligibility for a Human Service Program or other programs.
Alternative: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus six months to one year of experience in a similar agency.
Alternative: Additional graduate level education at the rate of 30 credit hours year for year.
Desired or Preferred Qualifications
Experience with customer service.
Experience performing clerical duties and data entry.
Experience with Google and Microsoft suites.
Experience working in a call center.
Experience with collections.
Special Requirements
Must have access to federal tax information and undergo a state and FBI criminal background check.
Background check includes determining whether any monies are owed to MD Labor for overpayment or fraud.
