Job Summary
Under the supervision of a pharmacist, the Inpatient Pharmacy Technician supports the pharmacy department in various areas including inventory management, medication preparation and distribution, compounding, processing of medications and supplies, specialty medications, and medication histories.

Rotating shifts: 6:30am-11pm

Key Responsibilities
Medication Processing: Prepare and dispense medication orders under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Ensure accuracy in dosage, labeling, and packaging requirements
Medication Distribution: Deliver medications to various hospital units and ensure timely and accurate distribution
Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels and ensure quality control of all medications and medical supplies. Handle supplies, stock prepackaged items, maintain inventory, and deliver supplies
Compounding: Assist in bulk compounding and preparation of IV solutions, including hazardous and chemotherapeutic medications
Medication Reconciliation: Assist in the medication reconciliation process by obtaining and verifying patient medication histories
Record Keeping: Maintain accuracy with various medication records
Compliance: Adhere to all hospital and pharmacy laws and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards
Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain a clean and organized work environment
Training and Supervision: Assist in the training and supervision of pharmacy interns and new hires and in the development and implementation of pharmacy policies and procedures
Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by answering questions and assisting with medication orders. Requires the ability to learn and execute customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
Error Prevention: Work with pharmacy staff to minimize the potential for medication errors
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED is required
Indiana Pharmacy Technician License OR intern or extern license if enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy
Requires Pharmacy Technician National Certification within one year of hire unless enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy or enrolled in or graduated from an ASHP or ACPE accredited Pharmacy Technician training program
Requires the absence of criminal history related to the ability to work with drugs
Requires strong mathematical calculation skills
Requires ability to learn basic pharmacy technician skills in assigned areas and work under close supervision or under clearly defined procedures
Requires ability to learn effective written and communication skills
Requires ability to learn and execute customer services skills
