Job Description
Railroad Friction Products Corporation designs and manufactures Cobra high-friction and low-friction composition brake shoes, specialty shoes, and disc brake linings for freight, locomotive and transit vehicles.
Who will you be working with?
As a member of the Railroad Friction Products group/division, you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining manufacturing equipment in good operating condition on a day-to-day basis.
What do we want to know about you?
High School Diploma / GED required (Technical 2 Year Degree preferred)
3 to 5 years of experience in maintenance
3 to 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment
Ability to understand and troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical controls, PLC’s, and HVAC systems
Basic experience with mechanical and electrical equipment in use at RFPC, including hydraulic and pneumatic valves, cylinders, pumps and motors, electrical controls
Ability to operate machines, hand‑tools, and electronic testing equipment
Proficient in welding, cutting, and sheet metal fabrication
Good communication and interaction skills
Forklift license certified
What will your typical day look like?
Repair, maintain and improve production equipment, plant equipment and related facilities as required – create work orders for work done.
Bench work including rebuild hydraulic cylinders, repair carts, etc. as time allows.
Perform Preventative Maintenance Work Orders in the Maintenance Management System
Assist other technicians on a flexible basis as needed.
Maintain a safe working environment.
Provide communication to other departments, as required.
Work overtime hours (weekends and factory shutdown periods) as required.
Maintain personal 5S area.
Participate in TPMs and/or Kaizens as needed.
Regular on-site attendance is required.
Follow all company established safety and employment rules.
Other duties as assigned.
What about the physical demands of the job?
Regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and extreme heat (non-weather).
Occasionally exposed to airborne particles.
Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Hearing and respiratory protection are required in certain areas of the plant and by job assignment.
Minimum 50 lbs lifting requirement.
Compensation
The hourly range for this role is between $29.00 – $32.00. The actual hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands, and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
