Summary
The Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing skilled maintenance and repair work on a variety of plant equipment and systems. This includes diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring all machinery operates safely and efficiently. The role requires strong problem‑solving skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair operating systems for overhead cranes, mixers, conveyors, stressing machines, boilers, HVAC units, air compressors, and other plant‑related equipment
Maintain a solid understanding of hydraulic systems, various voltages of alternating current (up to and including 480V 3‑phase), PLCs, and electric motors
Read and interpret parts manuals, electrical schematics, and hydraulic diagrams
Perform preventive maintenance on equipment to reduce downtime and extend service life
Complete assigned work orders and tasks efficiently and accurately
Assist with troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems
Perform basic welding and fabrication work as needed
Ensure compliance with all plant safety procedures and OSHA standards
Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used
Support installation or modification of new and existing equipment
Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining communication with supervisors and other team members
Be available for on‑call support as needed
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
Ability to diagnose and repair complex equipment issues
Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and basic computer literacy
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manuals
Effective communication and time management skills
Must have personal tool set
Education and Experience
High school or trade school diploma required
Minimum of 2 years of experience in industrial or plant maintenance
Must be able to read, write, and speak English (Spanish proficiency highly desirable)
Ability to complete third‑party overhead crane training within the required timeframe
Environment and Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs regularly
Frequently required to stand, climb, bend, and work at various heights
Regularly works in outdoor and plant conditions including exposure to heat, humidity, dust, and inclement weather
Must follow all required PPE and safety protocols
