Summary
Kansas City VA Medical Center is hiring one Registered Nurse (RN) Nurse Manager for the Primary Care service line. The homebase is located at the Kansas City VA Medical Center. This Nurse Manager will be responsible for staffing and clinical operations at the Warrensburg, Excelsior Springs, Cameron, and Belton Community Based Outpatient Clinics.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
English language proficiency (basic written and spoken).
Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by an accrediting agency such as ACEN or CCNE, or eligible under the master's level bridge program criteria.
Completion of a state license, with possibility of temporary appointment during bridge program.
Foreign nursing graduates must possess a current, full, active, and unrestricted registration from a U.S. state or territory, and may require formal degree equivalency validation.
Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) exception allows entry at the grade level for those meeting education but lacking licensure, on a 120‑day temporary appointment while pursuing licensure.

Preferred Experience: 1‑2 years of supervisory, nurse manager, or charge nurse experience; experience in an ambulatory or outpatient setting.

Duties
Responsible for operation of assigned units and providing coverage for other NMs as needed.
Direct, supervise orientation, training, development, and evaluation of staff performance.
Serve as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to improve care outcomes, remove barriers, and implement evidence‑based programs.
Engage in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth.
Adhere to ethical principles, foster accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels.
Equip staff with tools for competent care and promote accountability for high‑quality, cost‑effective outcomes.
Ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
Align nursing and clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participate in strategy planning and execution.
Promote a positive workplace aligning with the organization’s vision and mission.
Maintain knowledge and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, directives, policies, and SOPs.
Foster a safe and supportive environment for professional development.
Contribute nursing perspective in interdisciplinary discussions.
Evaluate outcomes of evidence‑based decisions and practice changes for individuals, groups, and populations.
