Elayn Hunt Correctional Center is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Associate to a Psychologist to support the delivery of mental health services within a secure correctional environment. This position plays a vital role in promoting the psychological well-being of incarcerated individuals by assisting licensed psychologists with assessments, treatment planning, therapeutic programming, and documentation.
As an Associate to a Psychologist, you will help facilitate mental health evaluations, gather clinical information, assist with group interventions, and support the daily operations of the mental health unit. You will work closely with psychologists, social workers, medical staff, and security personnel to ensure coordinated, ethical, and effective care.

Responsibilities

Implement habilitative and behavioral programs — Carry out structured habilitative and behavioral interventions using approved psychological techniques with designated clients. Support treatment goals by reinforcing skill development, adaptive behaviors, and therapeutic strategies under the direction of a licensed psychologist.
Conduct observations and collect clinical data — Observe client behavior in various settings, record accurate and detailed data, and assist in conducting analyses for program evaluation, treatment planning, or approved research projects. Ensure data integrity and adherence to established protocols.
Participate in interdisciplinary treatment teams — Function as a contributing member of an interdisciplinary team. Provide behavioral observations, assist in implementing treatment recommendations, and deliver counseling or other psychological services as assigned and supervised by licensed professionals.
Support psychological assessments and evaluations — Assist psychologists in gathering background information, preparing testing materials, organizing case files, and coordinating evaluation logistics.
Facilitate group-based interventions — Help lead or co-facilitate psychoeducational groups, skills-training sessions, or behavioral programs in a structured, safe, and therapeutic environment.
Maintain documentation and compliance — Prepare clear, timely, and confidential records of services provided, observations made, and interventions implemented, following departmental standards and legal requirements.
Position-Specific Details

Appointment Type:

PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE
Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment.
An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
Compensation:

This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) at each level. The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
Associate 1 to a Psychologist has an SER of $19.88 per hour
Associate 2 to a Psychologist has an SER of $21.27 per hour
Associate 3 to a Psychologist has an SER of $24.35 per hour
Career Progression Group:

ASSOCIATE 1, 2, OR 3 TO A PSYCHOLOGIST
Filled at the highest level of experience of the selected applicant.
Salary depends on level of experience.

IMPORTANT:
