The Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women is seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Accounting Specialist to support our mission of providing secure, efficient, and rehabilitative correctional services. This role plays a vital part in ensuring accurate financial operations that help sustain the programs and services that impact the lives of the women in our care.

Minimum Qualifications
One year of experience or training in accounting, auditing, bookkeeping, or financial operations or computations. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Establish and maintain inmate banking accounts , ensuring accurate setup, documentation, and ongoing account management in accordance with facility policies and financial regulations.
Process all financial transactions for inmate accounts , including posting deposits, recording incoming funds, and coordinating transfers to approved outside savings accounts with a high level of accuracy and security.
Manage account closures and discharge payouts
by preparing final account reconciliations, issuing release payments, and ensuring all financial obligations are met for inmates transitioning out of the facility.

PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE
Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
Career Progression Group:
ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST 1, OR 2
Filled at the highest level of experience of the selected applicant.
Salary depends on level of experience.
