Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Electrician III to perform master-level installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems across county buildings and facilities.
This role is responsible for inspecting, testing, calibrating, and maintaining electrical systems, including power distribution equipment, transfer switches, panel boards, and lighting control systems. The Electrician III will troubleshoot complex electrical issues, estimate project needs, maintain system records, and ensure safe and efficient operations.
This position also provides guidance and training to lower-level electricians, supports preventative maintenance programs, and responds to after-hours outages as part of an on-call rotation. The ideal candidate has advanced technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to safety and compliance. Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements
Minimum of two (2) years of full-time experience as a Licensed Master Electrician
Possession of a valid State of Florida or local Class I Master Electrician License
Extensive experience installing, maintaining, and repairing high and low voltage electrical systems
Experience troubleshooting electrical malfunctions using diagnostic tools such as ammeters and multimeters
Experience with power distribution systems, transfer switches, panel boards, and lighting systems
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents
Valid driver’s license and ability to operate work vehicles
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
Experience Preferences
Five (5) years of experience as a Journeyman Electrician
Experience working in government, municipal, or large facility environments
Familiarity with National Electrical Code (NEC) and OSHA safety standards
Experience with computerized maintenance tracking systems
Leadership or supervisory experience training and mentoring junior electricians
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday
Ability to work at heights using ladders and lifts
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions including heat, noise, and dust
Education Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent
Education Preferences
Completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship program
Additional certifications in advanced electrical systems, safety, or controls
