The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) Southeast Region is seeking a motivated and talented individual for the

Building Maintenance Supervisor II

position. The successful candidate will perform overall supervision and execution of routine maintenance in a cluster of homes (50+ residential homes) ensuring compliance with safety and licensing standards. Daily activities include coordinating maintenance projects, preparing written specifications and estimates, maintaining records, and conducting periodic inventories.

Responsibilities

Schedule, assign, and supervise maintenance and repair work for agency staff and contractors (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, roofing, etc.).

Supervise cleaning functions including floor waxing, window washing, waste removal, and carpet cleaning.

Coordinate property upkeep tasks such as lawn mowing, snow removal, driveway maintenance, and drainage system care.

Conduct quality‑control inspection tours to ensure safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards are met.

Write specifications for repairs, remodeling, or alterations and estimate costs.

Prepare budget requests for repairs and replacements.

Act as liaison to Department and other agency personnel, and collaborate with town/city officials as needed.

Requisition supplies and equipment, maintain records, prepare reports, and conduct periodic inventories.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of maintenance of heating, air conditioning, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures for residential structures.

Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, blueprints, and drawings.

Strong communication, record‑keeping, and supervisory skills.

Mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, and physical stamina.

Ability to establish harmonious working relationships.

Minimum Entrance Requirements

At least three years of full‑time (or equivalent part‑time) experience in building maintenance, focusing on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or custodial services.

At least one year of supervisory experience.

Schedule
8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Weekends off. Travel is required. Stand‑by status may be required.
