Schedule Details
This float position will work in one of three hybrid roles in the WMH Lab on any given day. The position is designed to back‑fill for other hybrid roles when needed, and to cover for special projects or during times of increased workload.

The three roles are all at WMH Laboratory: Specimen Processing, Outreach (nursing home) Phlebotomy, or Client Services.

Shifts will be any of the following:

5:00 am – 1:30 pm

6:00 am – 2:30 pm

7:00 am – 3:30 pm

One in four weekends and one holiday per year is required.

Training is 5‑8 weeks full time, depending on prior experience of candidate.

Employees will drive a PHC Lab vehicle when staffed as an Outreach Phlebotomist.

What You Will Do
The Lab Outreach Phlebotomist performs specimen procurement procedures in various hospital departments and off‑site locations. Procures blood specimens from patients by means of venipuncture, capillary, or arterial collection. Provides patient instruction relative to collection of non‑blood specimens. Performs and results waived testing. Acts as a liaison between the laboratory and nurses or other healthcare providers. Must have ability to work at various PHC Lab locations as needed.

Efficiently performs venipuncture, capillary and arterial collections with minimum discomfort and according to established policies and procedures.

Establishes positive patient identification prior to performing procedures.

Accurately labels specimens according to established laboratory policies and procedures.

Provides patient instruction relative to the collection of non‑blood specimens.

Appropriately prioritizes specimen collection requests. Responds to Stat, times and routine specimen collection requests in a timely manner as ordered.

Processes specimens for testing in the laboratory.

Transport specimens and blood products between sites, as needed.

Requirements

High School Diploma/ GED required.

Valid WI driver's license in good standing is required.

Previous phlebotomy experience preferred.
