To help students learn subject matter and master skills that contribute to their overall development as mature, able, and responsible learners. This includes establishing, maintaining, and communicating clear behavior and learning expectations for all learners, consistently striving to improve performance, and providing frequent and ongoing feedback to learners and stakeholders regarding their progress toward learning targets and goals.
Overview
The Dr. Marian G. Lacey K-8 Academy is a rigorous, structured academic setting designed to grow and equip leaders who will shape and positively impact the world. The academy emphasizes mastery‑based learning, growth‑based educational approaches, and strength‑based instruction. Learners engage in hands‑on experiences, real‑world investigations, and applied literacy and mathematics learning across STREAM disciplines.
Terms of Employment
This position is a Nine and one‑fourth (9.25) month contract (190 days) plus a benefits package. Salary placement will be determined based on experience in accordance with LRSD’s guidelines.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree minimum (graduate work preferred).
Arkansas Teacher’s license for Elementary Education K‑6 or Middle Childhood 4‑8.
ESOL endorsement preferred.
Competence in the total teaching act.
Proficiency in the Science of Reading.
Ability to apply current educational theory and practice, including cultural, socioeconomic, ethnic, and gender considerations.
Willingness to participate in ongoing staff development and effectively differentiate instruction.
Commitment to staff development and applying new techniques in the classroom.
Ability and willingness to construct hands‑on educational materials for identified curriculum skills and concepts.
Submission of a 5‑10 minute video demonstrating a learning experience in your classroom (required).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Embrace the K‑8 school configuration and best practices, promoting student success and a student‑centered focus.
Support the vision and mission of Lacey Academy by collaborating with administration and staff to create a positive, safe, and learner‑centered environment.
Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
Assist administration in implementing policies and procedures governing student life, conduct, wellness, and academic mastery.
Plan instruction that promotes social, physical, and intellectual growth; formulate assessments and modify instructional techniques based on formative assessment data.
Communicate clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects; integrate skills into units and learning centers.
Prepare for instruction and provide evidence of preparation when requested.
Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet individual student needs and learning styles.
Implement research‑based instructional strategies, assessments, and programs identified by the building and district; collect pertinent data and collaborate to produce formal narrative and statistical reports on effectiveness.
Serve as a model classroom; allow observers to view classroom activities; provide technical assistance and share resources with other teachers and staff.
Create a conducive learning environment that is developmentally appropriate; develop rules and procedures to maintain an equitable, fair, and learning–oriented climate.
Maintain an inventory of equipment, furniture, and center items; keep the classroom clean and organized.
Monitor activities to prevent accidents and promote social skills; take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Be available to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside instructional hours as required; collaborate with parents to foster cooperation and community involvement in program development and implementation.
Promote community spirit and communicate in an encouraging, constructive manner with all stakeholders.
Serve assigned class and collaborate with content and grade‑level teams; attend staff meetings, serve on committees, and participate in district/school‑sponsored staff development.
Assist in identifying and utilizing community resources such as field trips.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Mental Functions, Physical Requirements, and Working Conditions
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, go up and down stairs, operate foot and hand controls, use a telephone, and write. Occasionally lift or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. The position requires accurate perception of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, handling educational materials, and providing oral information. The employee must be physically present for the entire contracted time period with infrequent, unexcused absences.
