Job Goal
Engage students in effective hands‑on communication through drama and speech courses, establish clear behavior and learning expectations, and consistently improve performance to help students meet learning targets. Provide frequent feedback to learners and stakeholders about progress toward goals.

Salary and Terms
This position is a 9.25‑month contract offering a salary within the district range, based on experience and placement guidelines. FLSA: Exempt.

Salary Schedule:

$50,000–$79,028 per year

Qualifications

Arkansas certification for any area, grades 7‑8.

Willingness to try new teaching and assessment strategies.

ESOL endorsement preferred.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Knowledge of current and emerging instructional technologies.

Willingness to participate in ongoing staff development.

Sensitivity to cultural and individual differences.

Knowledge of online database management systems.

Commitment to staff development and application of new techniques.

Belief that all children can learn and achieve at the Academy.

Commitment to quality desegregated education.

Ability to articulate student progress clearly and frequently to students and parents.

Ability to design and implement hands‑on activities and thematic units across content areas.

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities

Develop and deliver instruction that promotes social, physical, and intellectual growth and meets individual student goals.

Plan a program of study that incorporates mastery‑based and differentiated instruction.

Use a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media to meet the needs of all learners.

Collect and analyze data to assess progress, provide feedback, and report on student achievement.

Implement innovative, research‑based instructional strategies and participate in professional improvement initiatives.

Model effective classroom practices for colleagues and provide instructional support.

Create a positive, safe, and learner‑centered classroom environment that encourages high behavioral standards.

Maintain accurate, complete records as required by law and district policy.

Support the Academy’s vision for community engagement by collaborating with parents, staff, and community resources.

Provide technical support for school‑related activities, including performances and assemblies.

Assist in the planning and implementation of arts‑based literacy and comprehension activities.

Participate in staff meetings, committees, and district/school‑sponsored staff development.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Mental Functions, Physical Requirements, and Working Conditions
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hand controls and a telephone. Occasionally lift or move up to 20 lbs. Must be physically present for the full contract period and use oral, written, and visual communication skills effectively. The contract also requires engagement in community resources and student support as needed.
