Job Description
The job of Teacher is to support the instructional process by serving as a teacher with responsibility for supervising students, developing lesson plans, delivering group and individual instruction, and collaborating with staff to address classroom issues. The Teacher reports to the Assigned Supervisor.
Essential Functions
Adapts classroom work to provide students with materials addressing individualized learning plans.
Administers developmental testing programs and subject-specific assessments to evaluate student competency and develop learning plans.
Assesses student progress toward learning goals and provides feedback to students, parents, and administration.
Collaborates with instructional staff, parents, and community resources to improve student outcomes.
Coordinates activities such as field trips and lesson plans to ensure necessary equipment and personnel are available.
Counsels students to improve performance, health, problem‑solving, and personal issues.
Demonstrates methods required for classroom assignments to address individual student needs.
Directs student teachers, paraprofessionals, volunteers, and student workers to support the classroom and individual students.
Instructs students to improve academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills.
Maintains accurate, up‑to‑date records of student learning using the district’s grading system.
Models appropriate social behavior and interpersonal skills.
Monitors students in classroom, computer labs, assemblies, playgrounds, and field trips to maintain a safe, positive environment.
Organizes age‑appropriate indoor and outdoor activities.
Participates in meetings to convey or gather necessary information.
Prepares written materials such as grades, attendance, and anecdotal records for student progress documentation.
Reports incidents (e.g., fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, discipline issues, etc.) to maintain student safety and adhere to school policies.
Responds to emergencies to resolve immediate safety concerns and direct to appropriate personnel.
Responds to inquiries from teachers, parents, administrators, and others to resolve issues and provide information.
Other Functions
Performs related duties as assigned to ensure efficient functioning of the work unit.

Skills:
Apply assessment instruments; operate standard office equipment and relevant software; prepare and maintain accurate records.
Knowledge:
Basic math, understanding of technical information, composition of documents, group facilitation; knowledge of codes, policies, age‑appropriate activities, lesson plan requirements, stages of child development, and behavioral management strategies.
Abilities:
Schedule and coordinate activities and meetings; gather, collate, and classify data; use job‑related equipment; adapt to changing priorities; maintain confidentiality; exhibit tact and patience; work flexible hours; analyze situations to create action plans.
Responsibilities:
Work under limited supervision; direct others; track budget expenditures; use resources from other units; impact organization’s services.
Work Environment
Physical demands include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; mostly sitting (60%), walking (15%), standing (25%). Minimum temperature variations, hazard‑free environment.
