A school in Columbia City, IN is seeking a qualified Teacher for the Deaf / Hard of Hearing to join their team on a contract basis. This role involves supporting students with hearing impairments by providing specialized instruction and fostering an inclusive learning environment tailored to their unique needs.

Responsibilities:

Deliver individualized and group instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing

Develop and modify lesson plans to accommodate hearing impairments

Collaborate with classroom teachers, audiologists, and support staff to create effective communication strategies

Assess student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly

Advocate for student needs within the school community and with families

Utilize assistive technology and other resources to enhance learning experiences

Desired Qualifications:

Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing

Experience working with students who have hearing impairments

Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) preferred but not required

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Ability to create individualized education plans (IEPs) and maintain documentation
