Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field, active Deaf & Hard of Hearing (DHH) certification, and 1+ years Deaf & Hard of Hearing Specialist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to specialize in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education, serving students across multiple elementary grade levels. Split between two school locations in Naperville, IL, the role focuses on delivering tailored instruction and support to meet the diverse needs of students with hearing impairments.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide specialized instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, utilizing auditory, visual, and tactile teaching methods.

Adapt and modify curriculum materials to enhance accessibility and engagement for students with hearing challenges.

Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that align with each student's unique goals and abilities.

Support language acquisition and development through both spoken English and American Sign Language (ASL), fostering effective communication skills.

Collaborate with school staff and families to create inclusive, supportive learning environments.

Desired Qualifications:

Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing or equivalent credentials.

Experience working with deaf and hard of hearing students in elementary education settings.

Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and understanding of auditory-verbal strategies.

Strong ability to adapt instructional techniques and materials to accommodate diverse learning needs.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with educators, students, and families.

Location: Naperville, Illinois (split between two elementary schools)
