Job Description
Warren Middle School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School Science Teacher to educate and support students in 6th grade. The ideal candidate will collaborate with colleagues in a Professional Learning Community (PLC) to enhance student learning outcomes, implement inclusive teaching practices, and strengthen students’ scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills. This role requires a commitment to equity, differentiated instruction, and fostering a supportive, engaging learning environment.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement engaging, standards-based science lessons aligned to state standards that meet diverse student needs.
Foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture that encourages curiosity, inquiry, and scientific thinking.
Differentiate instruction to support students with various learning styles, including those with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 Plans.
Promote hands‑on, inquiry‑based learning experiences that build students’ understanding of scientific concepts and real‑world applications.
Integrate literacy strategies within science instruction to support students’ ability to read, write, and communicate scientific ideas (e.g., vocabulary development, data analysis, explaining reasoning, interpreting informational texts).
Collaborate with colleagues in a Professional Learning Community (PLC) to analyze student data, develop instructional strategies, and promote best teaching practices in science.
Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including technology, labs, experiments, and cooperative learning structures.
Assess and evaluate student progress using formative and summative assessments to inform instruction and provide targeted interventions.
Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and school staff regarding student progress and performance in science.
Establish and enforce classroom expectations to create a respectful, structured, and safe learning environment, especially during lab activities.
Participate in school events, faculty meetings, and ongoing professional development.
Support students’ social‑emotional development by building positive relationships and fostering confidence in their scientific abilities.
