Job Summary
The
Shift Lead
is responsible for the smooth operation of the front docks. This includes safety as well as production. The Shift Lead keeps the inventory organized and the employees set up with material to sort. The individual will unload, and load trailers as directed. This individual will enforce all company/industry rules, policies and standards to a crew of production workers and will plan ahead so his area and teams are working in a safe manner.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Production Planning: Communicate with the production manager at the start of the day to discuss daily production needs
Forklift Coordination: Provide directions to forklift drivers, keeping them organized and on task throughout the day
Trailer Status Updates: Communicate with the production manager throughout the day about the status of each trailer being loaded or unloaded to minimize downtime
Paperwork Management: Complete all necessary paperwork, including filling out load sheets, and submit them when trailers are loaded or unloaded
Driver Coordination: Communicate with the OTR driver in dock 1, providing required paperwork and directions when trailers are loaded or unloaded
Safety Leadership: Lead efforts to maintain safety, including enforcing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policies and upholding safety protocols
Staffing Management: Ensure proper staffing on each shift by requesting additional labor or adjusting staff levels based on workflow needs
Performance Monitoring: Ensure all employees meet their daily production quotas and provide coaching or additional training to underperforming employees as needed
End-of-Shift Setup: Ensure forklift drivers put away finished products and set up tote teams, box sorters, and lid sorters with materials before the end of the shift to prevent delays
(Additional Duties: Other duties as they are assigned by the supervisor)
Skills and Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
Experience: At least 5 years of warehouse or manufacturing experience, 2+ years lead experience in manufacturing or warehouse company
