FP&A Analyst
Etched, San Jose, CA, United States
Job Summary
We’re looking for a dedicated FP&A Associate to own our internal financial planning engine. This is a pure FP&A role—100% internally focused with zero external deal work. You’ll be the person leadership turns to when they need budgets built, forecasts sharpened, and financial models that actually drive decisions. If you thrive on bringing order to complexity, moving fast when stakes are high, and building financial infrastructure from scratch at a deep tech startup, this role was made for you.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Budgeting:
Run end-to-end budgeting and planning cycles. Own the annual budget process, quarterly reforecasts, and rolling financial plans that keep leadership aligned on where the business is heading.
Financial Modeling:
Build, maintain, and continuously improve Excel-based financial models. Develop forward-looking forecasts—not just historical analysis—that inform strategic decisions across the company.
Data & Systems:
Analyze and maintain financial data systems. Ensure data integrity, streamline reporting pipelines, and turn raw financial data into clear, actionable insights.
Stakeholder Communication:
Communicate crisply and directly to senior leadership. Identify key stakeholders, manage relationships across functions, and translate financial complexity into straightforward narratives.
Process Building:
Standardize workflows and stand up FP&A processes from scratch. This isn’t a variance‑analysis‑in‑a‑cubicle job—it’s effectively an ops role, building the financial planning function at a high‑growth deep tech company.
High‑Urgency Execution:
Operate with a high‑urgency mindset. When leadership needs something, you respond with speed and precision—escalating, filling gaps, and delivering under tight timelines.
Qualifications
1–4 years of professional experience in a high‑performance environment
Strong financial modeling skills, particularly in Excel; you think in spreadsheets
Exceptional organizational skills—you bring structure, standardization, and rigor to everything you touch
Clear, concise communicator who is comfortable presenting to senior leadership
Bias toward action and urgency; you don’t wait to be told what to do
Comfort with ambiguity and building processes from zero in a fast‑paced environment
Low ego, high ownership—you’re willing to roll up your sleeves on whatever needs doing
Nice‑to‑have qualifications
Technical skills such as SQL, Python, or other data analysis tools
Experience with financial systems implementation or migration
Startup founder experience or other entrepreneurial background
Exposure to hardware or deep tech business models
Benefits
Medical, dental, and vision packages with generous premium coverage
$500 per month credit for waiving medical benefits
Housing subsidy of $2k per month for those living within walking distance of the office
Relocation support for those moving to San Jose (Santana Row)
Various wellness benefits covering fitness, mental health, and more
Daily lunch and dinner in our office
