Job Description
Ignite seeks a driven, detail-oriented Jr Systems / Software Safety Engineer. This position supports the development and implementation of safety programs by partnering with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to identify, assess, and mitigate hazards across the system lifecycle. The role requires direct application of MIL-STD-882E principles to conduct and document hazard analyses and to develop and track mitigation measures according to the system safety design order of precedence. Development of safety documentation including Safety Assessment Reports, risk assessments, and safety incident root cause analysis is required to support the safety of the product portfolio.

Qualifications
Required
A bachelor’s degree (or Master’s) in Engineering (systems or safety) and 0–3 years of relevant experience.
Foundational knowledge of safety principles, regulations, and practices, including hazard mitigation techniques and risk analysis for complex systems (weapons systems experience is a plus).
Desired
Experience applying system safety policies within programs using agile software development, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and/or Air and Missile Defense systems.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Experience with JIRA/Confluence or MBSE tools (Cameo/MagicDraw).
Independent, self-motivated worker with strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task across varied assignments.

US citizen status; candidate must reside near Huntsville, AL, or be willing to relocate.
