Sous Chef Line Cook – Hummus Mediterranean Kitchen, Palo Alto, CA
We are looking for an experienced cook to work side by side with our Executive Chef and contribute to the overall excellence of our newest restaurant.
The ideal candidate is a skilled, organized, and creative sous chef who works as a team player, follows instructions, and helps us delight customers with delicious food from our menu. Great communication and organizational skills are paramount.
A good candidate pays attention to detail and keeps the kitchen tidy and clean while preparing, cooking, and arranging food with the rest of the kitchen staff. We pride ourselves in exceptional service, and we expect nothing less from our cooks.
Responsibilities
Maintaining a sanitized and well‑organized kitchen.
Preparing workstations for cooking.
Preparing and maintaining kitchen equipment.
Checking the quality of the ingredients.
Preparing cooking ingredients using various techniques.
Cooking food using various culinary techniques.
Arranging food and ensuring appealing presentation.
Managing food storage, stock, and ingredient orders.
Requirements
Prior experience as a sous chef in a high‑volume restaurant.
Skill in operating kitchen equipment.
Skill in various cooking techniques.
Knowledge of sanitation procedures.
Teamwork and communication skills.
Great organizational skills.
Ability to multitask and act quickly.
Understanding of recipes, recipe ideation, and recipe improvement.
