Part-Time Lecturer Pool Position
Faculty employment opportunity in the Department of Physics at CSUEB. Temporary, part‑time lecturers will be considered for appointments as they become available for Fall Semester 2026, and/or Spring Semester 2027.

About the Department
We offer major‑specific courses as well as service courses, e.g., Algebra‑ and Calculus‑based introductory Physics sequences. Our curriculum emphasizes hands‑on experience, real‑world applications, and opportunities to work closely with faculty on research projects.

Duties

Teaching introductory physics (lectures and labs) and/or introductory astronomy (lectures and labs).

Assignments may include courses at the Hayward campus, Concord Center, and/or online.

Perform all duties within the state of California.

Rank and Salary
Lecturer. Salary depends on education and experience and is subject to budgetary authorization.

Lecturer AY (Range 2) – $5,507 – $6,677

Lecturer AY (Range 3) – $6,221 – $13,224

Lecturer AY (Range 4) – $6,825 – $14,523

Lecturer AY (Range 5) – $8,593 – $15,211

The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.

Appointment Dates
Fall Semester begins August 17, 2026; Spring Semester begins January 19, 2027.

Qualifications

Minimum requirement: M.S. in Physics, Astronomy, or other relevant field.

Preference: Ph.D. in Physics or Astronomy.
