DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS
POSITION AVAILABLE: One or more temporary, part‑time lecturers for a pool from which instructors will be considered for appointments as they become available for Fall Semester 2026, and/or Spring Semester 2027.

THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Physics at CSUEB offers major‑specific courses as well as service courses for other programs, e.g., both Algebra and Calculus‑based introductory Physics sequences. We are a learning community of students, staff, and faculty dedicated to advancing knowledge in Physics. Our curriculum emphasizes hands‑on experience, real‑world applications, and opportunities to work closely with faculty on research projects.

DUTIES OF THE POSITION
Part‑time positions teaching introductory physics (lectures and labs) and/or introductory astronomy (lectures and labs). Teaching assignments may include courses at the Hayward campus, Concord Center, and/or online. The policy and expectation of California State University is that all faculty members will perform their duties within the state of California.

RANK AND SALARY
Lecturer. Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience, and appointment is subject to budgetary authorization. Salary schedule information for the Lecturer – Academic Year Classification is available based on the appropriate range; the anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of that range, commensurate with education and experience.

DATE OF APPOINTMENT
Fall Semester begins August 17, 2026; Spring Semester begins January 19, 2027.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum requirement of a M.S. in Physics or Astronomy or other relevant field (Ph.D. in Physics or Astronomy is preferred).
