Responsibilities

Maintain current knowledge of the Federal WIC program regulations and the WIC FL‑WiSE system; provide quality nutrition care to WIC participants in compliance with federal regulations.

Complete comprehensive nutrition assessments for all low‑risk and high‑risk WIC clients, document Nutrition Care Plans, and use a standardized process to identify and address nutrition risks.

Update and maintain participant goal‑setting records, including inputting nutrition service codes in the data system and loading benefits into the WIC EBT account.

Provide individualized and group nutrition education, including breastfeeding education, using appropriate educational materials, and assess client readiness to change.

Make referrals for health and social services, keep accurate records of all contacts, and submit end‑of‑day and end‑of‑month reports to the supervisor on time.

Perform height, weight, and hematocrit/hemoglobin testing; follow the WIC Procedure Manual DHM 150‑24 for biochemical procedures, ensuring proper safety protocols and equipment maintenance.

Assist the supervisor with staff training, QI/QA activities, biannual nutrition plan audits, and weekly inventory of medical supplies, WIC formula, equipment, and educational resources.

Collaborate with the vendor manager and supervisor on vendor questions and client concerns; complete and submit time sheets, EARS, and travel reports in accordance with agency guidelines.

Drive county/state vehicles as required, maintain the vehicle in compliance with the Vehicle Operation Policy (DOHP 250‑12‑18), and ensure the vehicle registers and fuels are documented.

Educate the community on nutrition and food‑service practices through outreach and public engagement activities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of current science and practice of food and nutrition, including dietary planning and budgeting for all life‑cycle stages.

Ability to provide individualized and group nutrition education, develop nutrition plans for non‑high‑risk individuals, and educate families on nutrition needs.

Skillful customer service in stressful situations, with the ability to maintain effective communication and courteous public interactions.

Organizational, prioritization, and scheduling skills to manage work assignments efficiently.

Capacity to build and maintain productive working relationships with staff, vendors, and clients.

Physical capability to lift 15 – 20 lb.

Qualifications

Minimum – Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nutritional Sciences, Community Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health Nutrition, or Home Economics with an emphasis in Nutrition; sufficient knowledge of WIC federal regulations (Part 246.2) and completion of the Florida Nutrition Training Guide Modules.

Preferred – At least one year of experience providing nutrition education.
