Responsibilities

Provide WIC eligibility assessment and nutritional education/counseling to WIC clients consistent with State and Federal regulations.

Conduct individual and group nutrition education and counseling, including assessment of nutrition problems and assignment of WIC nutrition risk codes and appropriate food packages.

Document assessments, counseling, client goals, and food packages in the FL-WiSE computer system; prepare individualized outcome-oriented nutrition plans for high‑risk clients.

Provide and document appropriate referrals to immunization, medical, family planning, smoking cessation, community food, clothing and shelter sources, and other government assistance.

Complete assigned reports and inventories monthly (e.g., formula inventory, high‑risk report) and submit to supervisor.

Accurately and promptly complete all administrative forms and computer data entry of time worked/leave in PeopleFirst and Health Management System (HMS).

Provide nutrition education and outreach to the community.

Perform anthropometrics (height, weight, hemoglobin) as needed.

Demonstrate professional growth through at least bi‑annual participation in applicable seminars and in‑services; attend staff meetings, quality improvement activities, and other scheduled events.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office applications and client data management applications.

Ability to learn and use the FL‑WiSE computer system and DOH software applications.

Flexibility to work at other DOH‑Collier WIC locations if needed.

Commitment to maintaining client confidentiality.

Professional interaction and collaboration with clients, community partners, and DOH staff.

Accurate documentation of client records.

Qualifications

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in nutritional science, community nutrition, clinical nutrition, or dietetics from an accredited college or university.

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Ability to work before, during, or after normal work hours during emergencies.

Preferred: American Heart Association CPR certification.

Preferred: Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Creole.
