Job Overview
We are seeking a Utility SCADA Field Technician I to support the installation, maintenance, and operation of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
This entry-level technical role focuses on preventative maintenance, system support, and assisting with SCADA infrastructure including PLCs, radio telemetry, instrumentation, HMI systems, and communications equipment. The technician will perform fieldwork, support system integration and startup activities, maintain accurate records, and assist with troubleshooting and repairs. This role includes participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours and emergency response. Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements
A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience; OR two (2) years of journeyman-level experience in electrical, radio, or SCADA systems
Basic knowledge of SCADA systems, PLCs, instrumentation, and control systems
Basic understanding of electronics, radio telemetry, and process control systems
Experience using tools, testing equipment, and software related to SCADA or electrical systems
Ability to perform technical computations, analyze data, and maintain records
Ability to work in field environments and respond to emergency or after-hours calls
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Experience Preferences
Experience working with water or wastewater utility systems
Familiarity with HMI systems and SCADA network communications
Experience with system integration and equipment startup
Knowledge of electrical codes, safety standards, and cybersecurity practices
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in outdoor and field environments in varying weather conditions
Ability to lift, pull, and carry heavy equipment
Ability to climb ladders, crouch, kneel, and perform repetitive motions
Ability to distinguish colors for wiring and equipment identification
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent
Completion of a two (2) year technical or vocational program in electrical, instrumentation, or related field
Education Preferences
Technical or vocational training in electrical, instrumentation, or related technology
Training Schedule
Must complete the Utility SCADA Apprentice Training Program within eighteen (18) months of hire
Schedule
Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
On-call rotation required for nights, weekends, and holidays
