Overview
This position is responsible for accurately replenishing and billing for patient medications in the medication carts and maintaining the distribution area within the allotted time frame. Responsible for performing the technical and clerical duties required for preparation of unit-dose medications for the patients of Shands at Vista/Shands Rehab Hospital. Coordinates pharmaceutical purchasing, receiving, distribution, and inventory control functions.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
One of the following requirements must be met for minimum training or minimum experience in lieu of training:
6 months of Shands Pharmacy Technician Level 1 experience and completion of all required competencies.
Completion of Shands Hospital Technician Training Program.
Current enrollment in the Shands Hospital Pharmacy Technician Training Program, with the consent of the program director.
Completion of Military Hospital Core School and/or completion of Field Service School.
Completion of an ASHP accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program.
Completion of a college based Pharmacy Technician Training Program.
One year hospital pharmacy technician experience.
One year retail pharmacy technician experience.
One year pharmaceutical inventory function experience - including proper ordering from approved vendors to ensure adequate inventory based upon demand as well as maintenance of a pharmacy inventory.
One year (24 credit hours) science based college level study, which must include successful completion of Algebra.
One year experience transcribing/interpreting physician orders plus 12 credit hours of science based college level study, which must include successful completion of algebra.
Active status as a certified pharmacy technician with PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board).
Job Knowledge
Must know how to operate typewriter, calculator, and computer workstation.
Must demonstrate the ability to perform mathematical calculations required to prepare medications.
Motor Vehicle Operator Designation
Employees in this position will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose. A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job. Please indicate the appropriate operator designation on the Request for Personnel (RFP) form at the time a RFP is submitted to post the position.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
