Job Summary
In collaboration with the Clinical Coordinator and Simulation Skills Director, coordinates and manages the skills lab and simulation center. The individual in this position will ensure the effective and efficient operation of the lab, assess and provide for the meeting of program and student needs, and oversee the operation of high- and medium-fidelity technology to ensure the safe and effective use of the simulation equipment.
Job Duties
Develops, implements, updates, and monitors simulation lab policies, procedures, use, and operation.
Monitors and schedules the use, signing out, and movement of simulation lab equipment.
Develops, presents, evaluates, and refines scenarios for simulation experiences, utilizing role-playing, props, and dialogue to create a realistic learning environment.
Develop and implement clinical simulation to meet accreditation standards.
Assess and organize the orientation, simulation, and skills for clinical instructors and students for clinical sites and skills lab.
Creates and maintains a respectful and professional working environment, incorporating active learning, reflective thinking, and a confidential debriefing process.
Performs data analysis to evaluate learning and satisfaction with the provision of services.
Continuously updates and refines simulation experiences based on identified needs and serves as a resource for faculty utilizing simulation in classroom/lab activities.
Maintains the lab inventory and ensures the safe storage and disposal of hazardous materials.
Monitors and assures appropriate standards of lab cleanliness, and provides for equipment maintenance, repair, and replacement.
Orients instructors in lab procedures, location, and use of materials, and operation of equipment.
Responsible for business development of the simulation lab, establishes community partners, develops income-generated projects, and seeks grants and other funding sources.
Oversees simulation lab information and technology support.
Formulates budget recommendations.
Ensures a safe and healthy work environment, and complies with college health and safety policies, practices, and programs in keeping with occupational health & safety legislation and regulation.
Models professional standards, including customer service, collaboration, communication, excellence, and attendance.
Performs remediation with students in the skills area. Tutors as appropriate.
Works closely with faculty and staff to appropriately integrate lab operations, obtain maximum utilization for the most efficient expenditure, and moderate student costs.
Completes audits of clinical notes in collaboration with the Clinical and Course Coordinators.
Provides instructional support in the simulation lab for students and faculty to improve competencies and skills in meeting course objectives through simulation.
Schedules and coordinates simulation activities for each nursing course, as requested by course faculty.
Collaborates with appropriate individuals to schedule the use of the simulation lab and nursing skills lab.
Participates in or leads tours of the simulation laboratory. Participates in Open House sessions for prospective students.
Seeks opportunities to maintain professional competence related to simulation and healthcare.
Maintains and updates the simulation lab to include, but is not limited to, identifying software, supply, and equipment needs; monitoring simulation equipment; troubleshooting and resolving problems.
Maintains records of all simulation activities, including, but not limited to, the number of students participating, the number of faculty participating, the number of community partners participating, video release forms, and videotapes of simulation events.
Attends and participates in assigned committees within the program and the University. Presents at conferences in line with faculty requirements for service.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
The successful candidate must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree and a Master of Science in Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university. Simulation Certification required.
If the highly qualified candidate(s) apply, the requirement for Basic Simulation Training and Certification must be completed within a year of hire.
Experience
Two (2) years of recent practice as a Registered Nurse is required.
One (1) year of experience in Nursing Education is also required.
Must hold a current or be eligible for an unencumbered license to practice registered nursing in Maryland and Washington, DC, or be able to obtain one upon offer of employment.
Other Preferences for Consideration
MSN Nursing (preferably Education track) or Healthcare track.
Preferred experience as clinical faculty or in Skills/Simulations
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Requires knowledge of the curriculum in order to ensure appropriate skills are taught and that planned simulations are aligned with course objectives.
Knowledge of basic hospital organization and hospital/clinical systems
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent public relations skills using proper etiquette
Develop and maintain excellent working relationships
