Position Overview
Coordinates and teaches organic chemistry laboratory and lecture courses; serves as instructor of record for Organic Chemistry I and II laboratory sections and two lecture sections per academic year. Responsible for teaching pre‑lab sessions, directing laboratory instruction, coordinating laboratory operations, managing student laboratory assistants, assigning grades, developing course materials, preparing program budget requests, and overseeing training and operational manuals. Provides emergency support for evening laboratory sections and backup support for other laboratory courses.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field with at least 18 graduate hours in chemistry required.
Ph.D. in Chemistry preferred.
Four years of experience in a related field.
Combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities may be considered.
Responsibilities
Teach Organic Chemistry I and II laboratory sections, including direct instruction in pre‑lab sessions.
Direct laboratory instruction for these courses.
Instruct laboratory sessions on an as‑needed basis.
Collaborate with faculty to develop a rigorous and engaging curriculum for the course sequence.
Coordinate all aspects of laboratory operations, including managing laboratory assistants, assigning grades, scheduling and supervising tutoring support.
Serve as primary emergency support personnel for evening laboratory sections, overseeing student laboratory assistants.
Provide backup support for other laboratory courses, including Quantitative Analysis and Biochemistry I laboratory.
Teach two sections of chemistry lecture per academic year.
Prepare program budget requests.
Develop and oversee preparation of training and operational manuals.
Consult with staff to identify and resolve programmatic issues and implement solutions as appropriate.
Recommend and develop program guidelines, procedures, policies, and regulations; interpret applicable policies and ensure compliance.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
