Position Summary
This recruitment will fill one part‑time (maximum of 24 hours per week) KBVR‑TV Locals Live Producer for the Orange Media Network at Oregon State University (OSU). The producer is responsible for coordinating and producing the weekly TV broadcast of the music show, Locals Live, for KBVR‑TV. Shows air on channel 26 and online, and full episodes and exclusive content are uploaded to KBVR’s online platforms, including YouTube.

Students in this position will develop communication, critical thinking, professionalism, teamwork, and technology skills.

Employment dates:

Full Start: Sept. 8, 2026 – June 15, 2027

Pay Rate: 15 hours per week at $978 per month

Responsibilities

Create and oversee content for Locals Live, airing six times per term during the academic year. Shows are a maximum of 30 minutes.

Shows will air live or recorded live‑to‑tape.

Coordinate with the station manager, bands, musicians, and other musical artists to appear as performers on the weekly music TV show.

Ensure diverse representation of artists, uplifting diverse voices.

Coordinate with station manager, student engineers, and OMN professional staff on the setup and coordination of live musical performances.

Ensure all artists sign and return a performance agreement prior to the performance.

Ensure all shows are properly staffed with dedicated volunteer crew members (director, TD, cameras, audio, etc.). Train volunteers on equipment before the day of the show.

Provide crew members equal opportunities to grow, learn, and try out new crew positions.

Build a detailed rundown for each episode and share the rundown and techbook with the crew and station manager five days in advance of the shoot.

After a live show, optimize it for YouTube and upload to the KBVR‑TV YouTube page within 24 hours, properly labeling it with title, description, tags, and cover image.

Hold a post‑show meeting with the crew to review the episode and give feedback and critique.

Ensure all videos (broadcast and online) have complete and accurate captioning. Provide full scripts, lyrics, transcripts, and prep material to the station manager no later than 24 hours before airtime.

Share links to full episodes on YouTube immediately following the broadcast.

Other duties as assigned by the adviser.

Communication

Respond to emails, messages, and phone calls the same day, professionally representing OMN.

Notify adviser immediately of any ethical, legal, personnel, or controversial problems.

Hold and post regular office hours each week for Orange Media Network, at least half of which should be during regular business hours (8 a.m.–5 p.m., Monday–Friday). Hours may vary during different stages of the term.

Follow all OMN policies and procedures and hold all staff and volunteers to them as well.

Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.

Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment.

Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard.

High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home‑schooling program.

Undergraduate and post‑baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term.

Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*

Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term.

Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full‑time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS) and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Qualifications

Comfortable shooting and editing video.

Knowledgeable about live studio production.

Knowledgeable about field video production.

Knowledgeable of how to create video content and able and interested in learning to create content for all media platforms.

Knowledgeable of legal regulations and ethical principles guiding television and video.

Knowledgeable of video editing software.

Is a strong communicator and comfortable with public speaking.

Is organized and reliable.

Is comfortable giving and receiving feedback.

Able to remain professional and calm when working with difficult individuals and situations.
