Orange Media Network – KBVR-TV Assistant Station Manager 2026-2027
This recruitment will fill one part‑time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) KBVR‑TV Assistant Station Manager position for the Orange Media Network at Oregon State University (OSU). Students in this position will learn communication, critical thinking, professionalism, teamwork, and technology.
The position runs from September 8, 2026 until June 15, 2027, with 10 hours per week at $652 per month.
Responsibilities
Work directly with KBVR‑TV volunteers to connect them to trainings, check‑in, and find new opportunities for crew positions at KBVR.
Actively and continuously recruit students to join KBVR‑TV.
Work with TV Station Manager to establish production schedules for each show, including shooting, editing, and delivery deadlines.
Create a social media schedule and consistently post engaging content.
Update a weekly KBVR‑TV calendar with meeting notes, dates, and other information.
Assist live shows with productions as needed.
Assist Station Manager and producers with social media for shows, including posting and promotion.
Ensure all crew are trained on OMN equipment before production begins.
Communication
Respond to emails, messages and phone calls the same day, professionally representing OMN.
Notify adviser immediately if any ethical, legal, personnel or controversial problems occur.
Hold regular office hours each week for orange media network, at least half of those during business hours (8 a.m.–5 p.m., Monday–Friday).
Follow OMN policies and procedures and hold all staff and volunteers to them as well.
Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.
Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment.
Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard:
High school student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home‑schooling program.
Undergraduate and post‑baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term.
Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*.
Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term.
Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*.
Additional Required Qualifications
Comfortable shooting and editing video.
Knowledgeable about live studio production.
Knowledgeable about field video production.
Knowledge of legal regulations and ethical principles guiding television and video.
Knowledge of video editing software.
Strong writer, communicator, and comfortable with public speaking.
Organized and reliable.
Comfortable giving and receiving feedback.
Able to remain professional and calm when working with difficult individuals and situations.
Knowledgeable and experienced in building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and partners.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
Previously paid staff or crew member of KBVR‑TV.
Prior attendance and participation in OMN training camp.
Capable of effectively using web tools and social media for building engagement.
*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full‑time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
