
Orange Media Network - Student Engineer 2026-2027

Position Summary
This recruitment is to fill two part‑time (up to 24 hours per week) student engineer positions for the Orange Media Network at Oregon State University. The Student Engineer will provide technical support for Orange Media Network’s KBVR TV and Radio operations, working with integrated systems and equipment, and assisting with training, troubleshooting, and production support.
Employment Terms
Dates: September 8, 2026 – June 15, 2027
Hours: 10–15 hours per week, average $16.30 per hour
Location: Oregon State University, Orange Media Network
Pay Method: Hourly, paid monthly from 16th – 15th of following month, last working day of the month
Benefits: Participation in OSU skill‑development program
Responsibilities
Basic maintenance and repair of audio and video equipment under supervision
Support technical needs for TV, FM, and other multimedia productions (setup, takedown, operations, assistance)
Basic facility support (cleaning, equipment storage, organization)
Acquire, manipulate, convert, and store analog, digital, and computer‑based audio and video formats
Perform video or audio editing as needed or as skill allows
Participate in studio clean‑up each term
Other duties as assigned by the adviser
Qualifications
Knowledge of live studio production and field production
Ability to create video or audio content
Understanding of legal regulations and ethical principles guiding television and video
Organized and reliable
Comfortable giving and receiving feedback
Maintains professionalism and calmness in difficult situations
Academic Eligibility
Currently enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
Meets academic standing requirements; not on academic suspension
Minimum enrollment: High school: enrolled in school or homeschooling; Undergraduate & post‑baccalaureate: 6 credit hours per term; Undergraduate international: 12 credit hours per term; Graduate: 5 credit hours per term; Graduate international: 9 credit hours per term. (International students may have reduced course loads with OIS approval.)
Employment Conditions
Mandatory communication: respond to emails, messages, and phone calls the same day
Provide immediate notification of ethical or legal issues
Maintain office hours weekly for Orange Media Network at least half during business hours (8 a.m.–5 p.m., Monday–Friday)
Follow all OMN policies and procedures
