Compensation:

$150,000 – $220,000 base salary + 20% bonus opportunity (flexible based on experience)
Position Summary
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on

Director of Accounts Payable

to lead the Accounts Payable function within a shared services environment. This role will oversee all AP operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and efficient processing of vendor payments while driving process improvements, automation, compliance, and strong internal controls.
The ideal candidate is a proven finance leader with deep AP expertise, strong systems knowledge, and experience leading teams in fast-paced, multi-entity organizations.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, mentor, and develop the Accounts Payable team to drive strong performance and continuous improvement.
Oversee daily AP operations, including invoice processing, payments, reconciliations, and issue resolution.
Establish team goals, KPIs, and accountability measures.
Foster a culture of service, collaboration, and operational excellence.
Shared Services & Operational Excellence
Manage AP processes across multiple business units/entities within a shared services model.
Standardize workflows and ensure consistent policies, procedures, and controls.
Identify opportunities to streamline operations, reduce cycle times, and improve vendor satisfaction.
Recommend and implement automation tools and process enhancements.
Vendor & Internal Partnership Management
Maintain strong vendor relationships and ensure timely, accurate payments.
Resolve escalated payment issues and disputes efficiently.
Partner closely with Procurement, Legal, Treasury, and Finance teams on AP-related matters.
Support strategic initiatives involving acquisitions, integrations, and process alignment.
Financial Controls & Compliance
Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and accounting standards.
Oversee AP reconciliations to the general ledger and support accurate financial reporting.
Manage 1099 reporting, sales/use tax considerations, and other regulatory requirements.
Partner with internal and external auditors during audits and year-end processes.
Reporting & Analytics
Prepare AP metrics, dashboards, aging reports, and cash flow forecasts for senior leadership.
Use data insights to improve efficiency, manage liabilities, and optimize working capital.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required
CPA and/or Master’s degree preferred
8–10+ years of progressive Accounts Payable or finance experience
5+ years of leadership experience managing teams and complex AP functions
Experience operating within a shared services environment strongly preferred
Strong ERP experience (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar)
AP automation and process transformation experience highly preferred
Strong understanding of internal controls, audit readiness, and compliance requirements
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
