About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic, strategic, and bilingual Public Relations Freelancer . The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with proven experience developing and executing public relations strategies that enhance brand reputation, generate media coverage, and engage diverse audiences. This role requires fluency in both English and Spanish and a deep understanding of multicultural communications.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute comprehensive public relations and communications strategies.

Build and maintain relationships with media, influencers, community leaders, and industry stakeholders.

Draft and edit press releases, media advisories, speeches, executive communications, and other PR materials in English and Spanish.

Secure earned media opportunities across print, digital, broadcast, and social media channels.

Manage media inquiries and coordinate interviews, press conferences, and special events.

Monitor media coverage and industry trends, providing strategic recommendations and insights.

Support crisis communications planning and response efforts.

Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging across all communications platforms.

Track and report on PR performance metrics and campaign effectiveness.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.

5+ years of public relations, corporate communications, or agency experience.

Fully bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal).

Strong media relations experience with a track record of securing positive coverage.

Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.

Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.

Strong interpersonal, presentation, and relationship‑building skills.

Experience working with multicultural and Hispanic audiences is highly preferred.

Preferred Skills

Agency experience preferred.

Knowledge of the Houston media market.

Crisis communications experience.

Familiarity with media monitoring and PR measurement tools.
