Photographer and Videographer
We seek a talented, creative and organized Photographer and Videographer to join the Division of Academic and Student Affairs' Marketing and Communications team. The successful candidate will be responsible for capturing and producing high-quality photographs and videos that effectively showcase our university's campus, events, activities and student life. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Capture and produce high-quality photographs and videos that align with the university's branding guidelines and objectives
Collaborate and communicate with various division and university departments and stakeholders to understand their photography and videography needs.
Attend and cover university events in which DASA is the primary sponsor/participant, particularly when the events include a significant student presence, ensuring comprehensive visual coverage.
Conduct photo and video shoots on campus, highlighting the facilities, classrooms, laboratories and other relevant areas.
Create compelling visual content that tells engaging stories about student life, academic programs, faculty and campus initiatives.
Edit and retouch photos, ensuring they meet professional standards and are ready for publication in various mediums, including print, web and social media.
Edit and assemble video footage, incorporating music, sound effects, animations and graphics, to produce impactful promotional videos, documentaries and event recaps.
Manage and organize a digital media library, ensuring all assets are appropriately labeled, categorized and accessible to university staff.
Stay current with the latest trends and techniques in photography and videography, incorporating innovative approaches to enhance the university's visual presence.
Consult with campus partners regarding digital media management, multimedia best practices and project direction.
Collaborate with the division and the university's social media team to provide visually captivating content for social media platforms, contributing to the growth of the university's online presence.
Maintain and upkeep photography and videography equipment, ensuring they are in optimal condition and always ready for use.
Manage a student team of photographers, videographers, graphic designers and social media specialists.
Adhere to copyright laws, obtain necessary permissions and ensure all media content is appropriately credited when required.
Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs of the organization and evolving priorities.
Qualifications:
Minimum Experience/Education - High school diploma or equivalency and two years of visual/graphic arts experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred Qualifications - Proven photography and videography experience, supported by a strong portfolio demonstrating technical expertise, creativity, and the ability to produce compelling visual content. Proficiency with professional cameras, video equipment, and editing software(e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Lightroom), with advanced photo and video editing skills and strong attention to detail. Strong understanding of visual storytelling principles, including composition, lighting, and color theory, with the ability to adapt effectively to varied shooting environments and conditions. Excellent organizational, project management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines, work independently and collaboratively, and engage professionally with varied stakeholders. Knowledge of copyright and licensing requirements for visual media, along with the flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and other nontraditional hours as needed to support event coverage and project demands.
