Where It All Began

In 1999, Laurel Touby founded Mediabistro in her Manhattan studio apartment. What started as an email newsletter and networking cocktail parties for New York media professionals quickly grew into something much larger.

The media industry was transforming. Print was evolving into digital. New roles were emerging. Talented professionals needed a dedicated space to find opportunities—and employers needed access to specialized creative talent.

Mediabistro filled that gap. The legendary networking events became industry staples. The job board became the go-to destination for media careers.
