BET’s Ballers: ‘Sports In A Sexy Club Environment’

With seemingly every professional athlete spending his or her off-hours in clubs, it’s only natural that a show about them be broadcast from one. BET’s upcoming, Ballers will focus on “sports in a sexy club environment.”

The show, debuting April 20, will be hosted by four-time NBA World Champion John Salley, three-time NFL Pro Bowler Hugh Douglas, comedian Guy Torry and … Deal Or No Deal model Claudia Jordan.

“Women enjoy the show as much as men,” says BET entertainment president Reginald Hudlin. “The comedic interaction makes it appealing to non-sports fans.” Planned segments include “the dumb play of the week,” “the bullsh*t flag,” and “gossip in the girls’ booth.”

BET is betting that Ballers will do better than Stephon Marbury’s Stars on Stars, which premiered on Fox Sports Net March 9. The weekly series debut drew a 0.1 rating (75,000 viewers).
