Bloomberg Sheds Black Background in Web Redesign

Bloomberg’s Web site has unveiled a new look, and the difference is striking. Gone is the imposing orange-on-black that recalls the company’s financial data terminals. Instead, readers now peruse a site that, laid out in warm grades of orange and a white background, looks much more geared to everyday readers than a financier niche. Whereas the old site was almost forbidding in its Halloween getup, the new one looks more like a fusion of Google Reader and Breitbart: “Come on, hang out, let’s chat about stocks, bonds and commodities.”

paidContent reports that the new site also sports pushdown ad capabilty — presumably to drive additional ad revenue.

After the jump, a side-by-side look at the old vs. new Bloomberg.
