Brian Williams to Tour Africa With Bono

While Charles Gibson is busy being named to the nightly anchor seat at ABC and the CBS Evening News is preparing for the arrival of The Katie, NBC Nightly News‘ cut-up Brian Williams is going to Africa with everyone’s favorite rock-star-cum-humanitarian-cum-Time-Person-of-the-Year-cum-guest-newspaper-editor.

Bono.

The Daily News reports:

Williams is tailing him through the African countries of Nigeria, Mali and Ghana, where they’ll talk AIDS, hunger and economic development.

“I’ve been invited to go along on a trip with a man who has, I think, single-handedly changed the way so many nations and so many leaders look at AIDS and poverty in Africa,” Williams said. “I don’t know him, I’ve never met him … I have the same relationship with Bono as many of my friends do — I have his music.”

And we’ll ask the same question we always ask whenever Bono’s humanitarian efforts make headlines: Does the rest of U2 care about starving Africans?

In fact, we’ll let The Onion answer it for us:
