Changes at WRXP, Matt Pinfield Heads to Middays and Back to MTV

Alternative Rocker WRXP 101.9 FM is making changes to its on-air staff, effective Monday. Matt Pinfield and Leslie Fram make the move from morning drive to middays (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.). Swapping with Pinfield and Fram is current midday jock Steve Craig.

“[He] is one of the strongest talent in the country,” says Fram, who doubles as WRXP program director.  “He had amazing ratings in middays in one of our strongest dayparts and truly deserves this move. Personally, I’m excited not to hear the alarm clock at 4 a.m.”

Meantime, Pinfield is set to return to where his fame grew exponentially–host as 120 Minutes. He is back with the profilic MTV music franchise, starting in April on MTV2. The show will air monthly, along with a weekly online companion piece–120 Seconds that Pinfield begins tomorrow on MTV Hive (www.MTVHive.com/120).

“I’m excited to be a part of bringing 120 Minutes back, and looking forward to the show’s future. Our fans have wanted this for a long time,” Pinfield, 44, says. “I believe it will play a pivotal role in creating music awareness through exciting digital and on-air platforms, and spread to a whole new audience.”

From 1995 to 1999, Pinfield hosted the cutting edge alternative rock show.

“We are thrilled that Matt will be back on TV, and we are working closely with MTV to hopeful produce a ‘radio version’ of 120 Minutes for ‘RXP,” Fram says.

Brian Phillips remains on afternoons ( 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.), while From the Basement with Brian [Drelio] and Chris [Nadler] runs each weeknight from 7 p.m. to midnight.
