Channel 5, Channel 9 Bring Puerto Rican Day Parade to Viewers
It was last Sunday that WNYW/Channel 5 aired live coverage of the Celebrate Israel Parade. This Sunday, Fifth Avenue will play host to the 54th Annual Puerto Rican Day Parade.
Once again, Channel 5 will be handling the event, joined by their Fox sister station Channel 9.
WNYW gives viewers two hours of live festivities, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., before coverage switches to WWOR from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
WNYW and WWOR anchor Harry Martin (left) is parade co-host along with Channel 5 reporter Tai Hernandez. Good Day New York regulars, meterologist Mike Woods and traffic reporter Ines Rosales, will be reporting along the parade route.
Special guests include Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks and actor John Leguizamo. Grand Marshals Robert I. Unanue, president of Goya Foods, and Carlos Unanue, president of Goya Foods Puerto Rico, will lead the day’s events.
“El Gran Combo De Puerto Rico,”; the music ensemble also known as “Los Mulatos del Sabor,” “Una Institución” and “La Universidad de La Salsa” will perform some of their biggest hits.
