Confirmed: Gawker’s John Cook Going to Yahoo!

Gawker investigations editor John Cook is jumping ship to Yahoo!, says Nick Denton on Twitter:

The Awl is also reporting that Cook has left Gawker.

UPDATE: Reached via email by FishbowlNY, Cook declined to comment, but referred us to Denton’s Twitter post.

Cook has been heading up Gawker’s investigative reporting since March of 2009. Before joining Gawker, Cook worked at Radar and The Chicago Tribune.

Yahoo! had been on a hiring binge lately, picking up Politico media reporter Michael Calderone, The Awl contributor and Bookforum editor Chris Lehmann, and another Gawker alum, “Cajun Boy” Brett Michael Dykes.

UPDATE 2: Cook has confirmed to FishbowlNY that he will be reporting for a new Yahoo! News blog.
