Conrad Black Will Not Be Leaving Jail Anytime Soon

Prisoner No. 18330-424, also known as jailed former media baron Conrad Black, lost another appeal for his freedom.

A three-judge panel in Chicago refused to reconsider a ruling in June upholding the 6.5 year conviction for stealing $6.1 million dollars from Hollinger International Inc.

Black’s lawyer, Andrew Frey, promised not to give up despite increasingly desperate circumstances:

“It’s disappointing, but there it is,” Mr. Frey said of the ruling. Asked what was the next step, he replied: “Probably the Supreme Court.”

He has until November 12 to file an appeal with the United States’ highest court. At least Black didn’t steal 2,865 bikes.
